A new type of hero has been developing lately, an unatural type of protagonist who we wouldn't expect but love to see on the screen and pages. The reason we can't get enough of them is simply because we are obssed with the thrill of a "bad guy" playing the main character for once. Perhaps because we can relatw to a more imperfect type of character rather than a flawless hero.
Jack Sparrow of pirates of the Caribbean is displayed as egocentric and materialistic when he makes it clear that he will do what ever and kill who ever to get the black pearl back in his possession and of course his riches as well. He does it in such a clever type of way that results charming, just like Ichabod crane from sleppy hollow when the respected school teacher who becomes interested in Katrina Vantassel when he discovers her wealth and assured inheratence. Both protagonists are moved by money and their own selfish desires, disregarding others.
Ichabod Crane as well as Jack Sparrow are not your typical protagonist. They are more devious than noble. Another similarity bwtween sparrow and crane is there lack of good looks, basically imagine the opposite of superman. At first sight the would not appear as the hero of the story but once they've enchanted us with their slick personalities it will be clear why no one can resist them.
Even though ichabod is a more historical archetypal character him and jack share many attributes. Like there selfish attitude, carelessness twoards others and unattractive looks. Antiheros have been in style for a while now. There are many reasons for why we find them so attractive and as much as we hate to love them they are becoming more and more popular

Numerous Americans rely on more than science for beliefs, many people practice occultism and some are just fascinated by the occult. One thing is for sure American culture is strongly influenced by the supernatual thanks to the obsession we have for all the unknown. Reasons for this is simply due to our sick interest in the information within the occult and how it thrills us hear, see, and read all the malicious and wicked media and literature. Even if we may not always realize the occult is all around us.
Supernaturality has always been popular among Americans. Recently its becomed favored in media. Films like Evil Dead and the most recent Paranormal Activity movie have scene with clear satanic rituals. Artist like Eminem and Lady Gaga sing about possession in their music. In Eminem's song "my darling" he raps about selling his soul to the devil and even has a conversation with him, which Is clearly diabolical. Even in the way we dress the accult is expressed. With famous symbols like the satanic pentagram and the demon baphamet.
Another way the occult has affected our culture is in our entertainment. Outcomes include places like haunted houses in which people pay to get scared out of their minds by actors playing supernatural beigns like zombies, ghosts and monsters. Even if we know its all unreal we still get a thrill out of it. All this is so common in american culture that it displays us as a little gruesome
.As a result of the occult beign so loved in the U.S. Americans are born into accepting and soon obsessing with supernaturality. In a way our obsession is inherited.
